Happy Birthday Michigan Man Karl Tech. Karl Tech came to Ann Arbor to play football for Michigan and Coach Lloyd Carr in 2007. Tech was an outstanding football player and swimmer at Grosse Pointe North High School. He also earned academic honors during all four years of his high school athletic career. He was a second generation Michigan student following the footsteps of his father, Karl, who graduated from Michigan’s School of Engineering.
Karl Tech was listed on the Michigan rosters as a Safety from 2007 to 2010. He did not play in any games during the 2007 or 2008 seasons.
Karl played in his first, and only, Michigan game on October 17, 2009 vs Delaware State. You may remember that was a blow out win for Rich Rodriguez. Final score: Michigan 63 Delaware State 6. It was also his birthday, so that was a pretty cool thing that Coach Rodriguez and his staff did for Karl.
Karl Tech’s four years of dedication were rewarded in 2010 when he earned his Michigan letter. He did not play in any games during the 2010 season. It is likely that he did his hardest work getting the first and second teamers ready for game day.
Like so many Michigan Men before him, Karl Tech obviously loved the game of football and he loved Michigan. He probably dreamed of playing for the Maize and Blue at a very young age. Even though he did not get a lot of game playing time, Karl Tech lived his Michigan dream. He earned his Michigan letter with his dedication and persistence. Every successful football program needs their fair share of three and four star players. They also need a lot of guys like Karl Tech!
Congratulations Karl Tech. Thank you for your contributions to Michigan football. I hope you enjoy your special day today. Go Blue!
