Efton James, from Vandalia, Michigan was born on September 1, 1890. He played for Fielding Yost from 1912-1914 during the “independent” years when Michigan was out of the Western Conference. James was an end who did not start any games during his career, but was a letter winner on some pretty good teams (1913 team was 6-1-0 and 1914 team was 6-3-0). Efton James died overseas serving his country and the Allies in World War I on October 14, 1918. Rest in Peace Wolverine!
